Prof. Stefan Palzer, PhD

Prof. Dr. Stefan Palzer supports the founding team as a scientific advisor, contributing his extensive expertise in sensor technology and photonic measurement systems. He accompanies the technological development, contributes his own research findings and inventions, and advises the team on strategic and technological questions. The technological foundation of the product is based on his more than 15 years of experience in developing miniaturizable sensor systems.

Prof. Dr. Stefan Palzer studied physics at the University of Freiburg, specializing in nanostructured gas sensors. He completed his PhD at the renowned Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge (UK), where he developed new methods for photon-based control and analysis of quantum gases.

After positions at the VDI Technology Center in Düsseldorf and as head of the “Environmental Sensing” research group at the University of Freiburg, he accepted a professorship at the Autonomous University of Madrid in 2017. Since 2020, he has held the Chair of Sensor Technology at TU Dortmund University. He leads numerous national and European research projects, including the EU flagship project “HealingBat” within the Battery2030 initiative.

"I'm fascinated by how photonic sensors can make biological processes visible that previously could only be measured indirectly.“
